Sammanfattning: This essay aims to increase understanding of important conditions for creating intrinsic motivation for employees. We want to give companies a reason to review the possibility of creating intrinsic motivation through the psychosocial work environment. We chose to investigate this with a theoretical foundation in Self-determining theory that today is at the forefront of modern research in work motivation and organization. The study examines how well the variables Meaning of work, Recognition and Social community at work in the psychosocial work environment predict intrinsic and extrinsic motivation at work. A survey was conducted in collaboration with two companies where 78 people participated, 63% men and 37% women. Through a standardized multiple regression analysis, a significant result showed that all three variables, Meaning of work, Recognition and Social community at work, together predicted intrinsic motivation at work, but not extrinsic motivation. Meaning of work and Recognition also predicted intrinsic motivation individually. The results of the study contributed to additional evidence that companies using Meaning of work, Recognition and Social Community at work can create internal motivation for their employees.
