Skärgårdsliv för rekreation : En undersökning av möjligheterna till vistelse i Stockholms Skärgård
Sammanfattning: Aim The aim of this study has been survey the possibilities for short-term stays in the Stockholm Archipelago for people without their own means of transport, own equipment and/or experience of outdoor life. To fulfil this aim, the following questions were formulated: What communications are available to chalet parks in the Stockholm Archipelago? What overnight accommodation is available in the chalet parks in the Stockholm Archipelago? What activities can be pursued in the Stockholm Archipelago? What is the financial cost of travelling to and staying in the Stockholm Archipelago for a week? Method We chose to use six interviews and three observations in order to gain as much insight as possible. Interviews were conducted with Claes Petterson at Waxholmsbolaget, a company that provides transport services in the Archipelago, and with managers for five chalet parks: Rolf Andersson for Finnhamn, Per Englund for Grinda, Arne Johansson for Rånö, Pär Hjärtström and Peter Hösöyen for Gålö and Anders Bedinger for Gålö and Nåttarö. The interviews were recorded in writing and on tape. Observations were carried out at three chalet parks, i.e. Finnhamn, Grinda and Gålö, where activities were photographed and filmed Results Communications in the Stockholm Archipelago are mainly provided by Waxholmsbolaget. Collaboration with Stockholm’s public transport company, SL, facilitates communications during certain periods of the year. The County Council provides financial support to enable these operations to break even. Overnight accommodation in the five chalet parks consists of 216 chalets, the majority of which have four beds. There are a wide range of activities on all the islands and in all the areas studied, equipment for which can often be rented or borrowed. Examples include rowing boats and bicycles. None of the activities are organised, but are up to the initiative of the visitor. Options include bathing, fishing, saunas, barbeques, picking mushrooms and berries and studying/observing the flora and fauna. The costs for a family with two children including return travel and the rental of a chalet for a week amount to SEK 3 484 during the peak season. Conclusions There are good opportunities for short-term stays in the Stockholm Archipelago. Good communications are available in the form of boat and bus services. Good overnight accommodation is available. The chalets are in good condition and are well equipped. The total cost for a family for a week in the Archipelago is low in relation to other alternatives.
