Sammanfattning: The main reason for this study has been to explore the healthcare professionals' perception of the hospital social workers role in emergency care. The main questions have dealt with how the hospital social worker is perceived and why that perception may be the case. The study is a qualitative study done by interviewing and observing. The interviews were conducted at several emergency care departments in Sweden. Three doctors, three nurses and three assistant nurses were interviewed. The interviewers' answers were then coded according to Grounded theory where the result emerged according to the respondents main concern. The main concern of the study resulted in the concept of accessibility. This was then analyzed trough KAIMeR which was the theoretical model. Helping to create an understanding of how accessibility could be so influential. This was further analyzed by role theory in order to be able to explain how accessibility could affect the care personnel's perception of the hospital social worker. The conclusion of the study was that accessibility constituted the summarized perception of the hospital social worker. Analyzed through KAIMeR we recognizedaccessibility as a parameter that could change outcome. Applying role theory we saw inter-role conflicts that negatively affected collaboration.
