Internet är ingen gåva till mänskligheten : En kvalitativ studie om professionellas erfarenheter av nätmobbning i skolan

Supervisor: Melker Labory Assessor: Ulrika Järkestig Berggren The aim of this study was to illuminate professionals’ experiences and handlings from a gender perspective of cyber bullying in high school. This study therefore examines the professionals reasoning about traditional bullying and cyber bullying, the gender impact on cyber bullying and how the professionals handle cyber bullying in their practice. The study was conducted with qualitative semi-structured interviews with professionals within the student health team in high schools in Sweden. The theoretical approaches, which contributed to the understanding of the results, are social constructivism, context of bullying, the natural order, the stereotypical gender contract, KASAM and the professionals’ freedom of action in their work. The outcome of the study showed that adolescents tend to write meaner things on the Internet than in reality and that there is a difference between how the professionals and adolescents perceive cyber bullying. The study also showed a difference in gender. Cyber bullying differs between the sexes and girls are more exposed to cyber bullying than boys. The professionals handle cyber bullying similarly to traditional bullying but there is a diffuse line whose responsibility cyber bullying is. The professionals don’t know if the cyber bullying is easier or harder to handle but it is complex and needs to be worked more with.
