Sammanfattning: Energy is a limited resource, and as such it isnecessary to find ways to decrease the energy consumptionwherever possible. In this paper, the energy consumption of avehicle with a drive-by-wire system is observed. The drive-bywiresystem includes individual wheel steering and individualtorque feed to each tire. In order to generate results, a bicyclemodel is created in Simulink. This paper focuses on measuringthe energy consumption in terms of energy losses due to tireslip. The simulations are carried out in a systematic mannerwith predetermined configurations. These configurations definehow the vehicle is being steered, i.e., using a combination ofindividual wheel steering and torque vectoring. The results fromthe simulations show that the energy consumption is in factaffected when using different configurations in a drive-by-wiresystem. A result shows that it is possible to save 7% of energyin a certain turn scenario.
