Sammanfattning: Eight out of ten Swedes has once in a while pain in the back, neck or shoulders. This often depends on inactivity and monotonous work under a long time. Pain affects us mentally since the body and mind affect each other, which can lead to an evil circle of pain and depression. A typical imbalance in an office worker with the arms in front of the body while working is that the muscles on the front of the trunk will be shortened, since they never work with their full length and become strong because of the constant use. On the other hand, the muscles on the back of the trunk will be weakened and elongated, since they are working in an extended and static position. The purpose of this study was to examine if it is possible, under a six week period, to get an improved posture in the shoulder region and to get an improved self experienced health. The investigation contained nine middle aged office working women. A posture and a functional analysis were carried out. The functional analysis consisted of two tests that investigated lateral rotation in the shoulder and the relationship between the scapula and the trunk. After the tests were carried out the pictures taken was compared before and after the training period and the changes was noted. The result on this project shows that it is possible for office working women to get an improved posture, movement and coordination in the shoulder within a period of six weeks. It also shows that it is possible to get an improved self experienced health under the same conditions.
