Hållbar turism: Hur hållbar är turismen på Ven?

Detta är en Kandidat-uppsats från Lunds universitet/Institutionen för kulturgeografi och ekonomisk geografi

Sammanfattning: The tourism industry is important for the economy on a global scale. However, the industry also requires large amounts of the world’s resources on a yearly basis. This trend is likely to increase in the future according to researchers and therefore tourism have to be more sustainable in the future, if major problems are going to be avoided. The purpose of the paper is therefore to investigate how sustainable tourism is on the Swedish island Ven, based on the World Tourism Organization's (UNWTO) definition of sustainable tourism. To answer the question, the sustainability of Vens tourism was studied from an ecological, cultural and socioeconomic perspective. In both the ecological and cultural perspective, it was shown that there are several measures and regulations that act to preserve nature and culture on the island and promote the usage of these values in the tourism industry. From the socioeconomic perspective, it was shown that the conservation of the island's nature and culture limits some parts of the social and infrastructural development on the island. However, the conflict between the various aspects could be seen as marginal as the island is in close connection to Landskrona city where social services and infrastructure that are missing on Ven are available.
