Sammanfattning: This project developed from a common fascination for how light and patterns combined can change how a space is percieved – and even create new spaces. It’s about using traditional screen printing techniques and adding light as a way of finding new ways to work with, and renew the usage of, patterned textiles in public spaces. The result of the work is Light Spaces – a concept for textile patterns and lighting in public spaces where perspectives are relocated, strokes acquire a meaning they first didn’t inhabit and new spaces are created. In corridors, open spaces and meeting places the perspectives in the patterns, combined with the light, spawns new experiences and new rooms within existing rooms. In practical life the results are three types of electric fittings that can be combined with a collection of textile patterns created both for the electric fittings and for printing by the metre. During the course of the work we have tried out different textile materials, performed a survey on textile in public spaces and cooperated with Blond Belysning in order to develop electric fitting prototypes and find the right source of light.
