Sammanfattning: Boys and men who are victims of honour-related violence and oppression are today overlooked and little research exists. The aim of this study was therefore to explore, based on descriptions from social workers who work with helping and supporting people affected by honour-related problems, boys’ and men’s experiences of honour-related violence and oppression. The method chosen for this study was qualitative interviews with 6 social workers. When analysing our results, we applied theories about shame, ethnicity and the ideal victim to illustrate the reasons behind the actors' behaviours in an honour culture. This study found that the social workers described they had experienced that honour-related violence towards the men they’ve met, emerges out of deviations from primarily masculinity and hetero norms and that they can take many forms. The social workers described that boys can have a double role as victim and perpetrator, and the roles can be difficult to change. Furthermore, this study found that according to the social workers, boys can experience complex emotions related to the oppression and their family, and they don’t seek help to the same extent as girls.
