Sammanfattning: The study aims to examine social workers' experiences of threats and violence from clients and to shed light on strategies that social workers in social services have for dealing with such situations. The study also intends to examine social workers acquired knowledge from higher educational institutions and employers. To answer the study’s research questions a qualitative research approach is used. Empirical collection comes from semi-structured interviews with seven social workers active within two municipalities in Sweden. Results is analysed with previous research and Coping and KASAM as theoretical frame of reference. Result show that social workers experience more threats from clients in comparison with violence. How social workers are affected depend on various aspects such as supportive colleagues and managers. Experienced colleagues also prove to be important for less experienced social workers as all respondents considered that higher education institutions do not contribute with sufficient knowledge in the matter. The conclusion was that normalization of the subject risks negatively affecting the well-being of social workers as well as the client's opportunity for help. Employers and higher education institutions must work continuously to prevent normalization and provide informative training on the subject to social workers.   Keywords: social worker, threats and violence from clients, experience, educational institutions, social services, strategies.
