Sammanfattning: Lies are part of everyday life, but lies within the justice system is illegal (perjury). Yet it happens that people are committing perjury, increasingly, with potentially serious consequences. Statistics from 1976 – 2009 show that more than half of all who are found guilty of perjury is between 15 and 20 years and that the number of women is a growing group. It can be read from eighteen legal cases that several of those who commit perjury, do so to protect / help themselves or others. Psychology of law research has found no distinct punctuation between the people who lie and those who speak the truth, which complicates the finding of those who commit perjury. To overcome this problem we need a better understanding of perjury in the community and especially in the justice system.
