Sammanfattning: Pedestrians and cyclists are so-called unprotected road users which are sensitive in the context of road safety. When it comes to road safety focus are often placed on pedestrians-cars and cyclist-cars, in this report focus are placed on the road safety between pedestrians and cyclists. Pedestrians and cyclists are often referred to a combined space, with or without a separation. The purpose of this project is to study three different types of separation on pathways in Malmö, and approach how road users relate to these separations. These three places which are 20 meter sections are placed by Pildammsvägen, Klaffbron and Kung Oscars väg. Through literature studies, background information has been extracted, subsequently field studies made on nine different occasions over the three places has been made. Each study occasion was during a one hour period divided into morning, afternoon and lunch or weekend at each site. During the field studies passers road position on the pedestrian and bicycle path was registered, conflicts, flows and other information concerning road users was also registered. The results shows that most conflicts occurred on Klaffbron, furthermore were also conflicts/flow the highest in this place where separation is missing. This suggests that separation is necessary to improve road safety for pedestrians and cyclists. The least account of conflicts occurred on Pildammsvägen where no incidents were registered. This should indicate that the white solid line is the best form of separation between pedestrians and cyclists, however, this could be misleading, as the flow on Pildammsvägen has been low.
