"Insatt i mycket" En kvalitativ studie om läkares och sjuksköterskors syn på kuratorns yrkesroll inom vården.

Sammanfattning: The purpose of this study was to explore how medical doctors and nurses in four different hospital work areas look upon the professional role of the hospital counsellor. I wanted to get an insight into how they understand the hospital counsellor’s position in the practise of caring as well as in the team. The questions I set out to answer also concerned the other professional’s expectations upon the counsellor. I based the study on semi- structured interviews, some performed in groups and some individually. I used role theory and organisation theory to analyse the empirical material. The study shows that, although not always considered as being part of the team, the counsellor’s professional role is highly appreciated in the team. It also shows that the counsellor sits on a particular kind of professional competence related both to the community as a whole and to a capacity to make contact, talk to and support patients and their relatives as well as the hospital staff.
