Two-Photon Excitation of a GaAs Quantum Dot by Electro-Optically Modulating a Continuous Wave Laser
Sammanfattning: One of the most important steps towards enabling quantum communication would be to successfully integrate single-photon emitters and quantum memories, enabling the development of quantum repeaters. This is why, as part of a larger project, the objective of this bachelor thesis was to retrieve single-photons suitable for storage inside a Rubidium-based quantum memory. In this report, we show how a gallium arsenide quantum dot was successfully excited with two-photon excitation by using a pulsed laser, where the pulses were obtained by electro-optically modulating a continuous wave laser. While getting enough power from the pulsed excitation laser to reach the π-pulse for the quantum dot excitation, a g^(2)(0)-value of 0.048976±0.000831 was measured. This proves that it is possible to achieve high quality single-photon emission from a quantum dot, while using a electro-optically modulated continuous wave laser.
