Sopran eller alt? En studie i röstkategorisering hos sångpedagoger
Sammanfattning: The purpose of the study is to examine in what way singing teachers from different genres relate to categorization of the female singing voice. Information has been collected through interviews with six singing teachers, active at different levels. The method applied is qualitative interview inspection. The results show that the six singing teachers have different views of voice categorization of their students. Three out of six consider voice categorization important while the rest do not consider this being relevant to the learning situation. The categorization procedures used by the singing teachers varies between the informants. The teachers state that they combine knowledge acquired from their own education in combination with personal skills derived from practical teaching experience. Thereby they claim to have found a method for voice categorization suitable for their individual pedagogical aims.
