Följa John? En kvalitativ studie om ledarskap inom managementkonsultbranschen i Sverige

Sammanfattning: This thesis aims to investigate what factors young management consultants in Sweden consider to be important within leadership today. A qualitative study has been performed together with 15 young individuals who currently are pursuing their career in the management consulting industry. Charismatic leadership theory, Transformational leadership theory, Ethical leadership theory and Servant leadership theory have been used to understand and analyze the young management consultants preferences of leadership. The findings from the cross-sectional study indicate that there are five distinctive factors that leaders must possess in order to attract and retain young management consultants. Those factors are: (1) capturing the perspective of all shareholders, (2) promoting formal structures, (3) acting as role models and inspirations, (4) creating a social culture, and (5) driving development. The findings additionally generate a framework of how well the current leadership theories apply to young management consultants. This thesis contributes to the creation of understanding between employers and young employees as well as to the knowledge of how current leadership theories must be revised to a changing workforce.
