Sammanfattning: Abstract This study describes background information on skiing and mental training. Questions about how mental training is used by alpine skiers and trainers in Sweden today are answered. The purpose was to find out what the use of mental training looks like today in Swedish alpine skiing. Investigate whether there is a lack of knowledge in the area and a need to work more with mental training in sports, in terms of the athletes' well-being and achievements. Through a quantitative survey in the form of a questionnaire, a result is compiled here of what the use and view of mental training looks like in both active skiers and trainers. Eighty-five respondents participated in the survey, each of whom described their views and experiences of mental training and their sports and well-being, respectively. The results show that the estimated level of knowledge of mental training is relatively high. The knowledge of setting goals is the largest part that the research group can and do works with. Stress management, self-confidence, pressure and adversity are something that they do not have as good knowledge about. Large parts of the research group want’s to work more with mental training. Increased knowledge would greatly affect both athletic performance and well-being. The sum of it all is that there is more work to be done to train Swedish alpine skiers and trainers to be able to influence their performance and well-being.
