Sammanfattning: This master’s dissertation aims to investigate testing of anchors in general, and anchors installed in limestone in particular. A detailed study of the various types of anchors has been completed, as a study of the European standard – EN 1537 – of anchors and the testing of such constructions. A case study has been conducted where three anchors were installed in the limestone in Malmö, and then tested – according to the European standard – until failure, with the ambition to improve and adapt the standards better for Swedish ground conditions. The report begins with a general theory part, which describes the background of different anchors installed in sheet piles. It also shows the structure of an anchor with figures, and how to dimension such works. The theory part continues with a presentation of the European standard, and different types of anchor testing. The three main classes of testing – Investigation test, Suitability test and Acceptance test – are explained. The next part of the report presents the completed case study with chosen materials, dimensioning, installation and testing. Figures and calculations help explaining the procedure before the results are presented with reasoning on which types of failure that may have occurred. The report ends with conclusions about the case study. Sources of error and things that could have been executed differently to achieve an even better and more reliable result, is discussed. Finally, a few suggestions on further work about testing of anchors are presented.
