Detta är en Kandidat-uppsats från Högskolan i Halmstad/Akademin för hälsa och välfärd

Sammanfattning: Myocardial infarction affects the individual's life situation and often requires adjustments in several areas. In order to prevent new infarctions, much focus is needed on lifestyle changes. The nurse's role in caring for individuals with myocardial infarction is to teach and discuss non-pharmacological treatment and to motivate and support lifestyle changes. By highlighting how individuals experience lifestyle changes, the nurse can promote understanding of the changes the individual is facing and undergoing. The aim of this study was to describe individuals experiences of lifestyle changes following a myocardial infarction. A literature study was conducted with an inductive approach. The result was based on ten scientific articles where two themes emerged: factors that limit lifestyle changes and factors that facilitate lifestyle changes. In summary, knowledge of the factors that facilitate and limit the performance of lifestyle changes generates a greater chance for the nurse to provide the individual with individually designed information, guidance and teaching.
