Klimataspektens betydelse i kommunala planer för spårväg - En jämförelse av spårvägsplaneringen i Lunds kommun och Tammerfors stad

Sammanfattning: The aim of the study is to show how the aspect of climate change, relative to the three dimensions of sustainable development, is addressed in municipal plans for light rail. In the study, a comparison is made between the plans for light rail in Lund Municipality and the City of Tampere. The focus of this comparison is on the motivating factors behind planning for light rail and on the expected effects of the introduction of the light rail in the Lund Municipality and the City of Tampere. Furthermore, an assessment is conducted of how the plans promote the three dimension of sustainable development. The study shows that the motivational factors and effects of the light rail project to a certain extent differ between in Lund Municipality and the City of Tampere. The conclusion is made that the light rail plans in Lund Municipality mainly shows how the light rail will contribute to the economic dimension of sustainable development, while the light rail plans in the City of Tampere mainly focuses on how the light rail will contribute to the social dimension of sustainable development. Furthermore, climate change is addressed in the light rail plans of both Lund Municipality and the City of Tampere. However, the study shows that the City of Tampere addresses the aspect of climate change more thoroughly and as a bigger issue compared to the Municipality of Lund. The study shows that in the light rail plans in the City of Tampere, the climate aspect is a larger motivational factor and the plans promote the idea that the introduction of the light rail system will have a more positive effect on the mitigation of climate change.
