Arkitektur genom praktik

Detta är en Master-uppsats från Lunds universitet/Institutionen för arkitektur och byggd miljö

Sammanfattning: Architectural education is most of the time based on architectural tasks with little connection to real circumstances of a building process. The projects focuses on design and the result of the projects is abstractions of the reality, such as drawings, diagrams and models. Architecture through practice aims to explore parts of the architectural practice which we usually don’t have to think about in a school situation. How does the practice of building influence the design? What happens when the architect also becomes a builder? Questions about financing, transportation and productions is central in the project. The investigation is done through the process of designing, financing and building a public Sauna on a remote Island in the Finnish archipelago. During the beginning of the project a modular wall system is investigated, different kinds of details is studied and evaluated from perspectives of cost, production and aesthetics. With the developed system, a sauna is then designed. The parts of the sauna is prefabricated in the wood workshop at Lund University, Architecture. Throughout the production the design is influenced through the practice of building. Another part of the project focuses on financing the project through sponsorship, understanding the building laws in the region of Pargas (Finland), investigating methods of communication towards the public realm and strategies for transportation. The project is documented through a project diary and a instagram account, arch_practice / AAJARK. This report is based on the text from the diary with small changes in order to clarify the content. The last chapter of the report is a more reflective text with the aim of answering some of the questions which have been asked by analyzing the projects process through the content of the diary and other documentation.
