Detta är en Uppsats för yrkesexamina på avancerad nivå från Lunds universitet/Institutionen för psykologi

Sammanfattning: The purpose of the study was to achieve a deepened understanding for the ideas and conceptions of bullying in a school environment. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with two groups of participants, one group made up of select individuals with experiences of school victimization and one group made up of select individuals lacking those same experiences. The participants in the former group were asked to describe their experience, while the participants in the latter group were asked to imagine life as a bully victim and account for a day in their life. The interview material was analyzed by means of thematic analysis and ten themes were identified. Differences and similarities between the two groups are discussed in relation to current research. Some of the study’s conclusions include that notions exist about “classic” and “stereotypical” bullying, that the definition of a bullying act depends on context and that the role of bystanders is underestimated in comparison to research. The two groups of participants differ in their descriptions of loneliness, bullies, help-seeking and life time consequences.
