"Metadonet ersätter endast själva drogen" : en studie av socialtjänstens psykosociala arbete med heroinmissbrukare med metadonbehandling

Sammanfattning: The purpose with this essay, was to examine how the social workers in Malmö´s Social welfare services describe the needs of the psychosocial treatment to clients with methadone maintenance treatment and what kind of efforts they can offer to this group of clients. To attain this purpose we focused on these following questions How do the social workers define the problems and the needs of a heroin dependence client with methadone treatment? What kind of efforts, when it comes to the psychosocial treatment interventions, can the social workers offer the client. What can influence the social workers choice of efforts? What attitude has the social workers to the methadone treatment? We made the choice to get answers to these questions through interviews with a number of social workers, all with some experience from work with clients with methadone maintenance treatment. We also used literature, evaluations, reports and information from different websites on the Internet. The social workers have given us a picture of a mangled person with big social problems but also with different mental problems. They consider it as necessary with a lot of efforts both from the psychiatry and from the social welfare services to get a successful treatment. There is a discrepancy between what they want to do and what they really do.
