Demokrati - spelar roll? En studie om demokratiskt värdegrundsarbete i musikundervisning

Sammanfattning: This study aims to explore how music teachers in Sweden work with democratic values. The data for this study was generated through a survey and four interviews. The survey was targeted at students and music teachers from high school, grades 7-9, to upper secondary school. The semi-structured interviews were conducted with four of the teachers who answered the questionnaire, two teachers from each teacher group. The results of the survey show that the consensus between students and teachers were greater in upper secondary school than in high school. The results of the survey show that the schools and the music teachers generally work with the democratic values from a meta- perspective where the students in high school are not as included in the big picture as the teachers and the upper secondary students. Methods and opportunities to work democratically and with value-based work varies based on group size, “teacher density” and access to a meta-perspective.
