Sammanfattning: This study examines the relations between what is experienced when cycling on a bicyclepath and the bicycle paths design through a user perspective. Most studies focus on thepractical use of cycle paths but this study focuses on the aesthetic and emblematic effect ofexperience and mobility. The aim is to contribute with knowledge of aspects that constitutes acycling experience. The study takes on a humanistic and behaviourist geography orientedapproach exploring aesthetic and emblematic aspects using a quantitative method to do so.The method consists of a standardized survey with a motive to map experiences andpreferences of different cyclists in Gothenburg, Sweden. The main findings show that highfrequent cyclists prefer cycle paths with a one-way design and with a leveled separation frompedestrians, like the ones found in Copenhagen. This applies for different cyclists includingunsecure high frequent cyclists regarding their opinions and experiences. Previous studieshave mainly been on the separation of bicycles and motor vehicles but this study finds that aseparation towards pedestrians also is important for the cyclist's experience.
