Arbetslinje för en vit elit : en diskursanalys av regeringens samordnade och långsiktiga strategi för romsk inkludering utifrån vithetsperspektiv och kapitalismens prioriteringar

Sammanfattning: The purpose of this thesis has been to study different dimensions of work and the political ”work-first” principal within strategies of social inclusion. The primary material of the analysis consists of two relevant and current documents concerning the strategy ”A coordinated and longterm strategy of roma inclusion 2012-2032” (author’s translation) of the Swedish government. I have applied two theoretical frameworks to carry out this study: critical whitness studies and world system theory. The method applied is discourse analysis and the background evolves around previous research on the political principal ”work-first” strategy and meaning of social inclusion/exclusion. The conclusion of this essay evolves around the inclusion discourse and how it can construct a social periphery. The primary findings of the analysis are the following: that the proposed actions of the strategy mainly consist of researching the roma minority, which results in numerous job opportunities for the privileged groups in society. In addition to this the strategy is lacking concrete methods to include the roma people in conducting the actual strategy of inclusion. Furthermore the language in the strategy reproduces and illustrates the notion of this minority as the essence of otherness in the Swedish society.
