Käpphäst eller universallösning? En litteraturstudie rörande uppkomsten av den solidariska lönepolitiken
Sammanfattning: The Swedish Confederation of Trade Unions (LO) presented a new political report in 2015 with the purpose of renewing the wage policy of solidarity. The aim with a renewed wage policy is to create full employment instead of the present mass unemployment, to decrease the wage gap and to eliminate wagedrifts. The renewal may seem a bit strange, when the original policy (also called the Rehn-Meidner model) emerged in the late 1940s due to a totally different economic situation from today. In this thesis I therefore examine which the main reasons were to the establishment of the original wage policy of solidarity. My research method is a literature study of previous research, together with a review of the debate that took place in the LO-journal ”The trade union movement” (Fackföreningsrörelsen) 1949-1951. More specifically, I will investigate which economic theory and ideology the policy was based on, and also how big of an impact Rehn and Meidner had within the LO. My study shows that the wage policy of solidarity was strongly influenced by keynesianism and the Stockholm school, and that Rehn and Meidner probably had a major influence within the LO at this time.
