Påverkan på mikroorganismer i grundvatten, Biostimulering med syreavgivande medel

Detta är en Master-uppsats från Lunds universitet/Miljövetenskaplig utbildning

Sammanfattning: It is common that oxygen is a limited factor in microbial decomposition of a substance. Biostimulation with oxygen release compound, increase dissolved oxygen in groundwater and stimulate natural decomposition of petroleum hydrocarbon. Many places today are contaminated and using biostimulation with oxygen release compound will probably increase in the future. Today, the knowledge about what happens with microorganism is insufficient. This study will contribute to increase the knowledge. This study has investigated if the bacteria growth and enzyme activity increase when oxygen release compound use in toluene contaminated ground water in southern Sweden. Groundwater that has been treated with oxygen release compounds and groundwater that had not treated were analysed. This study shows that there is a difference between groundwater pipes but no difference in bacteria growth and enzyme activity between treated ground water and non treated. The result can depend on the difference in environmental conditions. The study shows that treatment with oxygen release compound not always will impact the bacteria growth and enzyme activity. More study is needed to investigate if the microorganism changes differently in different sites during treatment with oxygen release compound and what environmental factors has a large impact.
