Ett evigt blivande - En feministisk nomadisk läsning av Unica Zürns Jasminmannen

Detta är en Kandidat-uppsats från Lunds universitet/Litteraturvetenskap

Sammanfattning: This essay investigates The Man of Jasmine from German surrealist writer Unica Zürn through the lens of Rosi Braidotti's Nomadic Subject. Furthermore, it questions and elaborates the possibility of a Nomadic Subject in The Man of Jasmine. The result of a nomadic reading on the novel is discussed and estimated in terms of its productivity. I observed a consistency between certain aspects of surrealist literary tradition and the Nomadic Subject, which served as a starting point for my investigation. To fully comprehend the essence of Rosi Braidotti's nomadic subject, a reading of Gilles Deleuze's theory of nomadism has been integrated in the essay. Braidotti was highly influenced by Hélène Cixous and Luce Irigaray in her creation of the feministic nomadic subject, therefore, certain parts of their praxis, specifically, Écriture Féminine and Sexual Difference are being explained and applied to this reading of the The Man of Jasmine. The final part of the essay argues similarities between the feministic nomadic subject and Judith Butler's feminist theory: focusing on Butler's understandings of performativity and gender as social construction. This essay demonstrates and exemplifies the innovated understanding of Zürn's novel that a nomadic reading enables.
