Sammanfattning: This study intends to describe the experiences of the collaboration between the Swedish Public Employment Service and the folk high schools when it comes to the study-motivating folk high school course. A course which in its abbreviation has come to be called SMF. The collaboration to offer the course began in 2010 and is today offered to people who are registered at the Swedish Public Employment Service, who have reached the age of 16 and who do not have a high school diploma. SMF intends to motivate people without a high school diploma to go on to regular studies. SMF are one of two courses that the Swedish Public Employment Service has to offer unemployed people who lack upper secondary school qualifications. This points to the importance of continuously reviewing how the organizations that cooperate regarding SMF maintain and develop their cooperation to meet the needs of the unemployed who are registered with the Swedish Public Employment Service. The central question of the study is what the essence of the collaboration between the Swedish Public Employment Service and the folk high schools regarding SMF is, and how the work between the organizations has developed over time. To develop an understanding of the collaboration between the Swedish Public Employment Service and the folk high schools, a phenomenological method has been used where 12 informants have been able to share their experiences of the collaboration regarding SMF. The results show that reform of the Swedish Public Employment Service with its digitalization has affected the opportunities to meet in the social arenas, which has been important for the two organizations to gain insight into the working world of each other to best support the unemployed, thus also their opportunities to cooperate effectively and favorably for the individual. The results show that the essence of the collaboration around SMF is about the social arenas and the opportunities that these offered.
