Sammanfattning: Sweden identifies itself as one of the world's most equal and equal countries, and within preschool, educators must actively work with the values so that children will gain an understanding of the equal value of people. Research shows that Sweden's self-image has led to the color-blind anti-racism and that the claim of race or skin color has become taboo. This has contributed to a false belief that racism has been left behind, when the focus is on "real racism", there is a risk of making the everyday racism and discrimination to which children are exposed invisible. In our study, race has been treated by preschool teachers from two points of view, one is with color blindness, that skin color is not a factor for discrimination. The second is that race is a social construction, a common consensus whose meaning can be changed through discussion, reflection and action. Previous research shows that preschool teachers are unsure of how to respond to issues regarding racial and ethnic discrimination in preschool. This study is based on a social constructivist perspective where we address the issue of whether skin color is a factor for discrimination in preschool. The study data consists of qualitative interview interviews that have been analyzed in two steps, first through a phenomenographic analysis method, then a social constructivist perspective. The results show that both educators and children are discriminated against on the basis of their race and ethnicity. The majority of respondents did not consider skin color to be a factor in discrimination in preschool. What we found most prominent in the study was that preschool teachers can not always identify situations where racism or discrimination takes place. Our perception of the problem is based on the fact that preschool teachers do not have sufficient tools to deal with and pay attention to racial and ethnic discrimination, which leads to them not gaining enough knowledge to assess when children are discriminated against on the basis of skin color.
