Film som samhällsdidaktiskt redskap - -Hur ser lärare i samhällskunskap på att använda film i undervisningen på högstadiet?

Sammanfattning: The purpose of this thesis paper has been to examine how professional teachers in social science for secondary school talks about the use of movies for educational purposes. Four experienced teachers have been interviewed, and their answers created a result which were analyzed in accordance to the theory of this paper, which is the basic questions of didactics, why? what? and how. This thesis paper is also examining what didactic challenges that may occur when teaching using film according to the teachers in the study. The study shows that the teachers’ attitude towards the use of film in educational purposes are mainly positive, especially because the films add an audio-visual dimension to the subject. The teachers are however not only positive towards the use of film, as they talk about a problem with finding movies that fits both the students’ academic level but also the recommended age for the classes. The didactic questions are very visible in the teachers’ answers during the interviews, As they discussed reasons for and different ways how to use film for teaching social science in ways that can answer the didactic questions why? what? and how?
