Sammanfattning: The preschool curriculum (Lpfö 18) states that preschools as an educational institution are required towork towards preventing gender patterns which could limit children's social development. This is whatthis study is based on by examining how gender is presented in the children’s books used by FöreBornholmsmodellen. Importantly this study also includes an analysis of what discourses are reproducedand what impact these may have on the recipient. To do this, this study uses Fairclough’s threedimensional model which is designed to accommodate the discourse analysis. The literary analysiswhich this study uses shows that the examined children's literature contains more stereotypes thantranscending gender features, but that there are also a few glimpses of light where the possibility for agender transcending children's literature is possible. This study also shows the importance of givingpreschool teachers the right material which they can use to work in a norm-critical way, since theprevious research shows that this can be difficult.
