Sammanfattning: The high rate of migration into cities today, contributes to a high demand on land in central locations. This results in an increasing price of the inner-city life which conduces into an increased pressure to utilize urban space which is reflected in the transformed utilization of the urban land in the city. The purpose of this study is, through a case study of property development company Oscar Properties, to examine the correlation with gentrification theories such as the revanchist city- and emancipatory city discourses. ”Oscar Properties was founded in 2004 with the vision to develop apartments so unique that people would specifically aim for an Oscar Properties building when searching for a new residence. Since then, modern design and architecture has been an essential part of the company’s identity.” Oscar Properties, 2015 The case study has provided important results and conclusions that will illuminate this new wave of gentrification with private development companies in Stockholm. Furthermore, this study will be the base of which further research can investigate the potential effects this trend has to reveal.
