Sammanfattning: AbstractThis paper had the goal to research what affects a teachers choice of communication during herlessons. To do this, it uses a survey sent to all of Karlstad-Hammarös gymnasieförvaltnings fulltime, graduated, teachers. They where asked to answer questions about how they perceive their owncommunication and which ideals there were to consider, both their own and and those from themanagement. The results where collected and inserted into SPSS which calculated if there whereany correlations between the answers the survey generated.As a ground for the analysis, theories by researchers such as professor Erving Goffman, professorJohn Hattie and Michel Foucault are used. Even if these three show great differences in theirtheories it seems like they have a common base to stand on. These theories are backed up by other,often, less known research.It turned out relatively quickly that there were strong correlations between the teachers' perceptionof their own communication style and what they perceived as the organization's ideals, this theorycould be strengthened with the help of theoretical sources. There was also strong correlationsbetween the perception of the teacher's own communication style and how the teachers perceivedthat students perceive their communication. The paper discusses whether it is because the teachershave a true picture of reality or whether Goffman's theories of how mental discrepancy resolvedunconsciously, sometimes by distorting the perception of reality, is correct.The paper also examines how the teacher's background affects the communication style he or shechooses to use in their work. Four variables were selected for this, age, biological sex, experienceand subject of teaching. The investigation found that two of the four variables influencecommunication style. The variables of influence was the age and the biological sex of the teacher,they both showed strong correlation with the perception of their own communication style.
