Det digitaliserade hatet: en kvalitativ studie gällande dataspels självreglering av näthat.
Sammanfattning: The aim of this essay is to explore cyberbullying and online hate in games with a focus on how the game developers attempt to self-regulate this hate. With the Swedish laws not being in place to protect the victims and sanctioning the offenders this aspect is a clear example of in-formal control. The essay used Barry Zimmerman’s theory about self-regulation. The empirical part of this essay consisted of ten qualitative interviews done online through text. A focus was also put on exploring the subjects thoughts on cyberbullying. The result showed that reporting other players for transgression was a popular method to regulate the population. This was also seen as a working system that was preferred over the use of the court and laws.
