Betydelsen av kulturkompetens i terapirummet. En systematisk litteraturöversikt.
Sammanfattning: This systematic literature study with qualitative methodology wants to investigate the importance of cultural competence in the therapist. The study includes both therapist and client perspectives. The study describes the relevance of matchinga and not matching between therapist and client with different cultural / ethnic backgrounds. Based on metasynthesis, the study has resulted in three themes; 1) In the therapy room in general; the importance of alliance and therapeutic skills that are independent of the client's cultural and ethnic background is emphasized. 2) In the therapy room specifically; in addition to a good alliance and therapeutic skills, cultural competence is required to be able to meet the needs of a client with a different cultural/ethnic background. 3) Outside the therapy room; was about how external factors from society, such as belonging to a minority or majority status affects therapy. The results show that cultural competence contributes to a faster alliance, and relieves the client of responsibility and suffering during therapy. When the therapist lacked cultural competence, it could result in misunderstandings and avoidance of cultural areas. Future research that is desirable is how Swedish therapists experience the encounter with clients with a different cultural and ethnic background in a therapy context.
