Att lära inför konflikter

Sammanfattning: Interpersonal conflicts are common and natural phenomena that may affect individuals considerably. To decrease the risk of negative effects, where research has highlighted e.g. stress, depression and distrust, studies are conducted to better understand the mechanisms of conflicts and how the management thereof can be developed. The current essay was centered on research by Jordan and Lundin (2001) and focused on the individual level. More specifically the range of reflection, number of reflection perspectives, shown by the individual was investigated, and if this can be influenced through priming for increased awareness on conflict theory. Data was collected through distance based questionnaires and the results were analyzed quantitatively through statistical tools. The target group included men and women over 18 years old with Swedish nationality. To show differences in number of reflection perspectives, depending on priming, the group was split into one control and one experimental group; without and with priming respectively. The primary quantitative results did not show any significand difference between the groups. Based on the presented theories and previous research it was jet argued that continued research should be done for finding a simplified method of affecting the individual thoughts concerning conflict. That for more constructive actions of an individual in a conflict situation, and hence creating possibilities for an alleviation of the consequences of a conflict.
