Utvärdering av befintliga vattenskyddsområden i Sverige
Sammanfattning: In Sweden today, half of the population gets their drinking water from water extraction areas without- or with out-dated protection against contamination. To resolve this problem the swedish government institution, Naturvårdsverket, has written a list, in the form of twenty directives, to help in the establishment of a water protection area around the water collection point. The purpose of this literature study has been to compare sixteen today existing water protection areas in Sweden with the list from Naturvårdsverket and see if the directions are followed, if directions need to be added or deleted or if some directions needs to be changed. The result show that three of the twenty directions is rarely followed, direction two, seven and nine. Direction two says that an inspection of the wells in the area should be done and the risk for seepage of contaminated surfacewater in to the well should be assessed. Number seven of the directions says that measurements of the groundwater level should be done and in direction nine a groundwater map should be created combining the results of the groundwater measurements with topography and geology in the area. These three directions are vital for the creation of a good and safe water protection area. Why they are not followed are hard too say without conducting an interview with the people responsible for the written statements. In this study there was no time to conduct such interviews and therefore it is suggested that this is done as an addition to this study.
