Sammanfattning: In this thesis, I explore the relationship between two site-specific public artworks in Gothenburg and the public places they inhabit as well as how they affect the experience of said places. This is done through a methodological framework combining a phenomenological approach and observations in situ with an expanded concept of place borrowed from art historian Miwon Kwon. The two artworks and their places are analysed through cultural scenographer Rachel Hann's conception of scenographics, with the aim to explore how they can be understood as othering and worlding interventions that orientate place and creates affective atmospheres as well as how they can be understood through Hann's concepts slow and fast architecture. My conclusion is that the relationship between an artwork and its place is a great significance, since an artwork can change the conception and experience of a place and vice versa. I argue that the multisensory and holistic approach of expanded scenography theory enrich and broaden the understanding of this relationship and how it is experienced.
