Sammanfattning: The current debt crisis in Europe has led to demands for greater financial integration in the EU in the form of the creation of a banking union. This paper discusses the proposal of a banking union along with five other proposals for changes to the current system of home-host-country supervision. The dual banking system in the US is also discussed in this paper, as an example of supervision among (member-) states. The purpose of this paper is part to discuss how banking supervision can look across several countries and part to discuss the conditions for a banking union
