Hållbarhet – ett brådskande ämne. : Vad, hur och varför?

Sammanfattning: Global warming and climate change are facts that demand immediate attention. Education is considered a tool that can be used to create awareness, spread environmental knowledge and enlighten the human beings of today of the decisions that will facilitate the challenges of tomorrow. This is a review of seven scientific articles that present a variety of results on educational methods related to sustainability. The aim of this review is to examine what research suggests in the field of education for sustainability and the appropriate methodology that can be used by teachers and students in order to integrate environmental awareness, sustainability in theory and in action. The results show that the educational system has to be transformed, sustainability has to be part of pre-service teachers’ education, included in school curriculum, integrated in all subjects and learned through place-based lessons, experience and praxis.
