Sammanfattning: Family therapy is a well-known treatment for adolescents suffering from anorexia nervosa. Treating several families simultaneously through multifamily therapy, is relatively new in Sweden. This study evaluates the treatment model behind multifamily therapy as it’s practiced at Region Skånes Eating disorder Center Children and Adolescents (RSÄ-BU) and at Stockholms Center for eating disorders (SCÄ). The material consisted of archive data (study 1) and of material from a web-based survey (study 2). Study 1 consisted of information concerning weight for 72 patients and self-reported data concerning anorectic symptoms for 38 patients. All patients were girls ages 10-18 years. Study 2 was a pilot study where seventeen survey responses were recieved. Dependent (paired) t-test was used to investigate significances before and after treatment regarding self-experienced anorectic symptoms. These were measured by the self-report instruments Eating Disorder Examination-Questionnaire (EDE-Q) and The Strength and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ), and also by Expected Body Weight (%EBW). The result of study 1 shows significant improvement regarding weight progress as well as self-experienced anorectic symptoms. The survey, study 2, shows that the participants expectations have been fulfilled, though the expectations were low. The majority of participants would recommend the treatment model. A discussion of the strengths and limitations of the study is provided.
