Detta är en Uppsats för yrkesexamina på avancerad nivå från Lunds universitet/Musikhögskolan i Malmö

Sammanfattning: This essay strives to find parent’s role both on group lessons for youths who play guitar, in which the parents too are active students, and in the children’s practice. Are there parents who are more or less involved in their child’s learning process outside the lessons? In what aspect and how have the parent been involved in its child’s learning process, outside the lessons? Have they been involved at all in the child’s learning process outside the lesson? Are there any differences in the childrens amount of practice-time when parents are more involved outside the lessons, than parents who are not? The study concludes that there are connections between highly involved parents that practice a lot and children who practice a lot. The essay also concludes that the parents assist their children with cognitive support and shows other strategies for assistance and completion in their practice. The results of this study originates from data collected from a qualitative enquiry studie with the parents and semi-structured interviews with their children. These data has been analysed and processed through Grounded Theory to form the conclusions of this essay.
