Medberoende, ett omdiskuterat begrepp

Sammanfattning: Co-dependency is a controversial concept today and a major social problem at both national and international level that affects a large group of individuals. There is a debate about whether or not co-dependence should become a separate diagnosis or not. There are also shared opinions about what a co-dependency really means. This study is about studying people who identify themselves as co-dependents and how themselves describe their everyday lives. The study will also illustrate how the people handle their situation and their need for support. To get my results, I have used a narrative method which is a qualitative method. I have analyzed three autobiographies using relevant research and two theories which are coping strategies and system theory. My results indicate that researchers are not united on what co-dependence means. The result also shows that regardless of the relationship you have with the person with addiction, the signs are the same, but they are described in different ways. The result is also clear that the people who suffer from co-dependency problems are in need of help but that there is a lack of information that makes them not know where to turn.
