Sammanfattning: The purpose was to investigate "adult foster childrens" view on their childhood and how it may have been influencing their adulthood. The importance of relationships were mostly in focus in the essay. The method was qualitative deepinterviews with three adult foster children between 30-42 years of age. Important themequestions was about: origin family, the time in foster home, relations outside the foster home, life as an adult, social situation today and to give advice to people who are connected to foster care. I found that experiences of relationships and separations in their lifes had effected them in the adulthood. It came forward in their self-conception, sense of family belonging and how they relate to other people in their surrondings today. They all thought that they have a good enough life today but things could always get better. Theories of object relation, attachment and E.H Erikson´s psychosocial theory was used in understanding of the relationships´ importance and to get a lifecourse perspective. There were little research on adult foster children in Sweden, more have been done abroad. This essay was compared with other research to find out similarities and differences. Keywords: adult foster children, foster care, foster home, relationships
