Upplevelser av ordmobiliseringssvårigheter i vardagen hos personer med multipel skleros: förekomst av specifika situationer och kommunikativa strategier
Sammanfattning: The aim of this study was to investigate how 26 people with multiplesclerosis and subjective anomia experienced their ability of word-retrieval ineveryday life and which strategies they may use to deal with the difficulties.A quantitative content analysis method was used. Based on previous researcha coding manual and a coding scheme were developed and used in the analysisof transcripts from interviews with the respondents. The results showed that amajority of the respondents experienced paraphasias, that fatigue wasperceived to have a negative impact on their word-retrieval and thatrephrasing was a common strategy. The respondents also described ways inwhich word-retrieval difficulties appeared, situations in which they occurredand strategies they used, which had not previously been described in studiesabout anomia in multiple sclerosis. The results may justify a more thoroughassessment of anomia by speech and language pathologists in this group ofpatients.
