Sammanfattning: The purpose of this master´s thesis is to identify costs, time perspective and other differences between the building methods for apartment building made of CLT and concrete frameworks. This master´s thesis also aims to increase the general knowledge of apartment buildings made of CLT-frameworks costs and to investigate if CLT-frameworks can be a cost-efficient building method. This master´s thesis consists of a qualitative study. The three methods used in this master´s thesis is literature, case and interview study. The literature study clarifies available information on the subject. The case study compares cost calculations of CLT and concrete apartment buildings. The interview study investigates the building industry’s knowledge and experience of CLT-projects. The results from the studies have been analysed and discussed to answer the problem. The conclusion of the master thesis is that concrete apartment buildings is more cost-efficient if the lowest price per square meter is requested. If the lowest climate impacts are requested CLT-frameworks can be the most cost-efficient building method. The CLT-method has the potential to develop into a more cost-efficient building method than concrete, based on price. However more research and experience is required on CLT apartment buildings. The differences in building methods are how the functional requirements are fulfilled, how much framework completion is required and how much transport of the frameworks is needed. The difference in time is mainly that the CLT-construction can be constructed quickly, however the frame completion is more complex. The greatest costs for both alternatives are the framework, the overhead costs, and the installations. The largest difference in cost is framework completion which is twice as larger for the CLT apartment building as it is for concrete. Other conclusions from this master´s thesis are about design, work environment and material management. There are difficulties in converting a project from concrete to CLT without losing the benefits of the CLT-method and it requires major design and planning. The work environment is better in CLT-projects because the material is easier to handle. Finally, the CLT-method require more material management because of its more sensitive qualifications.
