Sammanfattning: The purpose of this thesis is to gain knowledge about the resurging trend of the mobile libraries and their current position within the Swedish public libraries. The study is designed as a qualitative study and semi-structured interviews are used as method. A preliminary study has been carried out to create pre-understanding useful as basis for interview questions and selecting a sample. Institutional theory and DiMaggios and Powells three isomorphic processes: coercive, mimetic and normative isomorhism are used to gain an understanding of the reasoning and organizational processes that underlie decisions made regarding mobile libraries. A content analysis has been carried out with a thematic framework based on the pre-understanding and the theoretical framework. The study displays the factors affecting decison-making regarding mobile libraries. The resurging trend can be explained by the increased availability of financial resources but also by the public libraries desire to recreate the mobile libraries. Other processes that have influenced the changes are government policy instruments and how libraries inspire and imitate each other.
