Sammanfattning: The complexity of today’s challenges for companies and organisations are constantly increasing and seldom they possess the knowledge to solve these by themselves. One way to overcome these obstacles is to engage in open innovation; to open the corporate boundaries and allow external knowledge to contribute to the knowledge that the company lacks. In doing this, the company also allows internal information to be shared and an exchange of knowledge between the companies occurs and provides added value for both parties. This kind of cooperation is especially useful when it comes to industries that require a lot of different skills and when there is a need for technical integration. The film and TV production industry is an example of such industry where the innovation process is in need of a wide range of expertise and technical solutions. This makes it an interesting industry to examine when it comes to open innovation. The research on open innovation rarely describes a practical approach to streamline the process of innovation, and is instead usually focused on analysing the practices that already exist. Open innovation is becoming more common and we believe there is not enough research that discusses how the innovation process and the collaboration can be improved. In this paper, we will examine the open innovation processes in the film and tv industry to find ways to improve the collaboration and make the innovation process more efficient.
